Having a good time with genuine laughter will translate into stellar pictures. There's nothing worse than looking back on photos with bad memories because the session was stressful or uncomfortable. At Stokes Photography, we strive to be the family photographer who is fun and easy to work with. We plan your session very carefully and come fully prepared. I have many great tips, prompts, and posing ideas and activities in my toolkit to make sure we capture beautifully posed and naturally candid images of you and your loved ones!

I also offer a carefully curated line of gorgeous products to showcase your family in your home. Therefore, I plan my shots carefully to get images that will look amazing in an album or in a collection on the wall.

On Location or In Boise Studio

We can do your family photo session on location or in our Boise Photo Studio. My home-based studio has a large space with professional lighting and a variety of backdrops and seating available. I have several props for the little ones that we can use as well. The studio is great for formal or casual pictures and is a perfect solution if it's too cold outside for the little ones.

For outdoor, on location sessions, I have a variety of AMAZING places throughout Boise that we can use. We can go to carefully manicured gardens or natural wildlife preserves. There are also fun parks with play structures throughout the valley. We can brainstorm together and find the spot that fits your family's style and personality.

The Session - What to Expect

3 Must-Haves at your session:

• weather appropriate clothing - if it's cold outside, please bring coats and blankets and we can use them between images so everyone stays comfortable.
• full belly - make sure nobody gets the hangries during the session so we can get some good smiles! Feel free to bring snacks and drinks of course.
• stroller - some parents found it easier to bring along a stroller for the little ones to travel between spots to take pictures as some of the parks are quite large.

Family photo sessions typically last 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. I try to be very efficient with your time and capture images quickly, especially if there are little ones, as they can be quick to lose interest. Prior to the session, please let me know if there are any poses that you've seen that you would like to try out or recreate. Your family can have one set of clothes or bring outfit changes if you desire. Maybe you have a stuffed teddy bear that was handed down, or a quilt that was lovingly stitched by a family member to include.
